Festool Track Saw Firmware Update Released

Festool has released a firmware update for their connected track saw lineup, addressing a calibration issue that some users reported with dust extraction timing. The update is available through the Festool Work app for owners of Bluetooth-enabled models.

What the Update Fixes

The update resolves a timing delay between blade contact and dust port activation that some users had noticed. Previously, sawdust would accumulate during the first inch of cuts before the dust extraction system fully engaged. The new firmware synchronizes these functions more precisely, resulting in cleaner cuts from the very beginning.

This marks the second firmware release for compatible Festool saws this year. The previous update improved cut-line indicator accuracy, another refinement that professional users appreciated.

Compatible Models and Requirements

The firmware update applies to Festool cordless track saws equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, including models in the TSC 55 series. The corded TS 55 FEQ does not have Bluetooth capability and is not affected by this update. Festool cordless tools can communicate with Bluetooth-enabled dust extractors for automatic start functionality.

To install the update, you will need:

  • A compatible Bluetooth-enabled Festool saw
  • The Festool Work app installed on your smartphone
  • A charged battery in the tool

Installation Process

To apply the update, connect your saw via Bluetooth and open the Festool Work app. Navigate to device settings and tap Check for updates. The download takes approximately 3 minutes. Your saw remains operational during the process, though Festool recommends completing any cuts in progress before initiating the update.

Note that app availability varies by region. North American users should verify the Festool Work app is available for their device before attempting the update.

Why Firmware Updates Matter

Festool approach to tool firmware updates reflects the growing sophistication of professional power tools. Like smartphones and computers, connected tools can receive improvements and fixes after purchase. For woodworkers who invested in premium Festool equipment, these updates help maintain optimal performance and extend the useful life of their tools.

Users who have not connected their Bluetooth-enabled Festool tools to the app should consider doing so to ensure they receive future updates and improvements.
